Starts from 21/06/2017 to 21/06/2017

Following the success of Professor Wachsmann’s groundbreaking book ‘KL: A History of the Nazi Concentration Camps’ (2015), a website on the ‘Nazi Concentration Camps’ (www.camps.bbk.ac.uk/) has been developed to put this acclaimed research into the domain of schools for the benefit of secondary school teachers and students.

This workshop will consist of three parts;

  • an introduction to his research and work on the Nazi concentration camps, and the context and thinking behind the website by Professor Wachsmann himself
  • an overview of some of the UCL student research relating to student myths and misconceptions about the concentration camps specifically, and an overview of pedagogical approaches to teaching about the Holocaust and some ideas about how to use the website in classrooms
  • an opportunity for you to ‘have a look’ at what’s on the website and work with other teachers and ourselves to develop teaching resources and further ideas for using the website.

We would love to see you at this unique event. It is designed to give you an opportunity to develop your own subject knowledge and pedagogical approaches to teaching about the Nazi Concentration Camps, as well as the chance to possibly see your ideas and collaborative work published online in conjunction with Birkbeck and UCL –  a fantastic way of both having a positive impact in the classroom, and to develop your own professional career.
