Higham Lane School is a mixed 11-16 comprehensive school in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, dedicated to ‘helping learners succeed’. The school was awarded Academy status in January 2012 and has a current roll of 1240 students.

Higham Lane became an IOE Beacon School in 2014. The Lead Teacher has had a lot of previous experience working with the IOE, from an early ITE session with Paul Salmons during his PGCE, the 2-day CPD programme, completing the MA module in ‘the Holocaust in the Curriculum’, and also leading English Martyrs Catholic School in it’s status as a Beacon School before moving to his current post at Higham Lane.

We teach about the Holocaust and topics within Holocaust Education in a range of subjects throughout the key stages, within English, History, R.E., and Drama as well as more diverse subjects such as Science and Geography. At present, we are trying to structure this into a more cohesive whole school programme which will allow continued and developing knowledge and understanding throughout each pupil’s time at the school.
