Our research shows that young people are often mystified by the targeting of Jews for mass murder.

Unlocking Antisemitism, a free evening workshop on Tuesday 19th July, will explore how teachers can work with the IWM film Roots of Antisemitism to uncover the origins of this ‘longest hatred’, and to explore continuity and change from medieval anti-Judaism to modern antisemitism.

Providing:

  • effective classroom approaches
  • free teaching and learning resources
  • networking with fellow teachers

This practical workshop, part of our additional CPD programme, models powerful teaching resources that:

  • Explore change and continuity in the development of anti-Jewish prejudice
  • Helps students to critically examine the underlying causes of this anti-Jewish prejudice
  • Provides essential knowledge and understanding to counter common myths and stereotypes of the Jewish people.
  • Encourages students to analyse and synthesise a range of information to advance understanding of prejudice in general and antisemitism in particular

Programme:

  • 17:00 – Registration, tea and coffee
  • 17:30  – Unlocking Antisemitism workshop
  • 19:00 –  Food and wine reception

*This is a free event for all teachers, but is also a part of our 19th July Teachers’ Day  within the BAHS Conference 2016: The presence of the Holocaust in society, politics and culture c.1970-2015. (The conference runs from 19-21 July: Book Now!)
